Stretching
Oof, it's been a while since I've posted a formal update…
Backroads and backlogs
I've been pretty quiet around here, as the summer has been incredibly busy! I may post some updates from the backlog, but also wanted a clue into to some of what I've been up to.
I'm preparing for the North Star Bicycle Race. I've done some bigger preparation rides, scouting the route, and dialing in my race gear. There's a lot to decide on to tackle 630 miles! Hopefully at a sporting pace of under 3 days!! Over 200 miles per day, I've barely ridden that distance once, let alone 3 in a row! (Hint, I did a double century since you’ve last heard from me. One of many backlog posts…)
Bike mostly race ready
Look Good, Feel Good.
Last week I joined a Bikepacking trip for 7 days, low intensity, but HOURS on the bike. My fit and saddle are feeling great!
More on that later, but it was a fun, reflective trip, with some gear mishaps and mayhem, grit in the teeth (and on the bum!), and so much laughter.
Canadian Border! Hope to see you again soon!
So beyond piles of gear and small bike tweaks, I've also been trying to prepare my body.
That little massage ball is my new favorite tool. It also travels well and is light!
I do a quick yoga routine to stay limber, and find the massage ball and foam roller to really help certain problem areas! I have notoriously tight hamstrings, and have had a small twinge in my neck that I hope looong days with a helmet don't lead to Shermer's Neck.
I'm prepping my gut biome with probiotic yogurt, and trying to eat vegetables, goodness knows there won't be much room when speed of calorie delivery and palatability are the priorities, especially when resupplied by gas station!
And toughest of all for me, is getting enough sleep. I use Olly Sleep supplement gummies to help enforce my nighttime habit, they work well for me to get better quality sleep.
So those are some of my off bike priorities! Here's hoping for a good ride!
NSBR Start, See you soon!
